Sustainability at BeGreen
Why
At BeGreen, our vision is to be a key player in the green transition, and to take responsibility for it.
Climate change is one of the biggest societal challenges we face today. At BeGreen, we are driven by our mission to produce and supply affordable, sustainable power, thereby contributing positively to our customers’ everyday lives, society at large and the climate.
By producing green electricity, BeGreen’s solar Pv parks contribute to reducing circa 800 tonnes of CO2 per hectare, annually – the equivalent of the annual CO2 emissions of about 100 people.
What
We strive to embed sustainability at all levels and in everything we do at BeGreen. We want the energy we produce to be sustainable in a 360-degree sense, i.e. economically, environmentally, socially and in terms of the landscape too.
BeGreen’s ESG & sustainability policy outlines our commitments. It is based on the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, which offer a framework for sustainability and corporate responsibility best practice. The principles cover human rights, labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption.

How we work with sustainability

We created our 360° concept to ensure that we contribute to the green transiton in a responsible and inclusive manner.
This model allows us to work systematically and holistically with sustainability. It ensures that ESG topics are embeded in all operations, and that our reporting is coherent both internally and externally.
Our ESG Committee oversees and monitors actions from our ESG workstreams, further embedding decisions at all levels of the organization.
Actions and targets
Our annual sustainability-reporting cycle is based on an analysis of the company’s environmental and social impacts, which allows us to prioritise our efforts.
Our double-materiality assessment reveals which topics are of high importance to us, which we address through our 4 priority programmes: Climate Action, Responsible Sourcing, Our Local Communities, and Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Our priority programmes are drawn from, and are fully embeded in, our 360° sustainability concept.
We have set concrete sustainability targets and defined actions, focusing on environmental factors and human rights in our value chains, on being neighbourly, on our work with biodiversity, recyclability, and our climate-impact reporting.
BeGreen and the UN’s SDGs
BeGreen’s sustainability strategy is based on our commitment to contribute positively to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
BeGreen produces green electricity from the sun. We contribute to SDG 7 by increasing the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix, and to SDG 13 by reducing CO2 emissions by selling green power.
BeGreen’s projects help promote economic growth in society at large and in all the businesses in our supply chains, thus contributing positively to SDG 8. We also contribute to SDG 9 by helping build energy infrastructure.
BeGreen contributes to SDG 12 by promoting resource efficiency and responsible production. Land used for solar PV parks are not sprayed with pesticides, protecting our groundwater reserves, and managing the landscape of the park has a beneficial effect on fauna and flora found on land, hence contributing to SDG 15.
