CO2-neutral municipality

At BeGreen, we develop sustainable solar power solutions in collaboration with local authorities, landowners, neighbours and other local stakeholders.

The green transition is the most important challenge of our time and requires everyone to work together to achieve the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by at least 75 per cent by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2050. At the same time, recent geopolitical developments have highlighted the need for Denmark to become energy independent.

At BeGreen, we also work with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Global Compact’s ten principles as some of our most important benchmarks.

Strengthening the municipality’s green profile

BeGreen provides local authorities with assistance to becoming carbon-neutral municipalities, contributing to the green transition. We have experience in concluding fixed-price agreements to purchase green power. Such an option will ensure attractive and stable electricity prices for quite a few years.

In addition, we are collaborating with local authorities to find the best way of realising the green transition. One of the ways we do that is by adapting our solar PV parks to local conditions through thorough analyses of the landscape, protection interests, visual conditions as well as considering the interests of neighbours and local residents.

We design solar PV parks on many scales with different panel sizes depending on the site. Our design is always adapted to the landscape, and we plant local tree species, shrubs and plants, green wedges, etc.

Our solar PV parks make no noise and generate no disturbing glare.

Organic and sustainable initiatives

The site used for a solar PV plant will typically change from traditional monoculture farmland to either pure electricity production with maximum energy yield per hectare or a combination of sustainable electricity production and organic food production, which makes no use of pesticides, thus protecting the groundwater resources on the land in the best possible way for a great many years.

By switching from traditional farming to a combination of electricity generation and food production, BeGreen’s solar PV parks save the environment annually for about 800 tonnes of CO2 per hectare, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of about 100 people.

Our strategy of planting living fences, woodland and other natural areas and green corridors creates or restores unique habitats for a range of animal and plant species within the local areas and over time will contribute to significantly greater biodiversity than existing cultivated land would allow.

Overall, the establishment of adapted BeGreen solar PV parks will benefit both the climate initiatives and safeguard the environment and biodiversity for the enjoyment and benefit of the municipality’s residents.
