Health & Safety

Health and safety is a fundamental priority across all our activities, protecting employees, contractors, and everyone involved in developing renewable energy infrastructure.

Our ambition is guided by a Zero Harm objective — aiming to prevent injuries, work-related illness, and incidents across our projects and operations.

Why Health & Safety Matters

Renewable energy projects involve complex construction and operational activities, including heavy vehicle movements, lifting operations, electrical works, and exposure to changing weather conditions.

Creating a safe workplace requires visible leadership, engagement, and accountability at every level. Everyone going home safe every day is not just a motto — it is a responsibility shared across the organisation.

Safety Leadership and Culture

True safety leadership means being present on site, working alongside our teams, listening with intent, and learning continuously from the environments where we operate.

Leaders, employees, contractors, and partners are empowered and expected to speak up and intervene whenever unsafe acts or conditions are observed.

The principle “You see it – you own it” applies to everyone without exception.

Governance and Oversight

Strong governance is the backbone of effective health and safety management. BeGreen conducts scheduled audits and HSE inspections across our sites to identify areas for improvement and reinforce good practices.

All employees have personal HSE objectives embedded in performance expectations, reflecting the importance of safety as a core operational priority.

Risk-Based Approach

BeGreen applies a structured risk-based approach to identify and mitigate hazards associated with our activities. We use the Hierarchy of Controls to manage risks effectively:

Elimination

Remove hazard

Substitution

Replace hazard

Engineering Controls

Isolate people from the hazard

Administrative Controls

Change procedures and ways of working

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Protect individuals where risks remain

This approach supports prevention and continuous improvement across all phases of project delivery.

Building safely on site

During construction, we maintain a strong on-site safety presence and active workforce engagement. Key practices include:

  • Daily morning toolbox talks focused on planned activities and risks
  • Lessons learned shared across construction phases
  • Adequate HSE supervision and contractor coordination
  • Designated HSE focal points within each discipline

These measures help ensure that safety remains embedded in day-to-day operations.

Responsible Sourcing and Human Rights

Health and safety is closely linked to responsible business conduct. We work with suppliers and contractors who meet our expectations through a structured due diligence process combining integrity, safety, sustainability, and human rights assessments.

We also assess worker living conditions as part of our commitment to safeguarding wellbeing across our value chain.

How we work with Human Rights

Preparedness and Emergency Response

At BeGreen we identify key operational risks and applies an ALARP approach, ensuring risks are reduced to as low as reasonably practicable.

In the event of an incident, trained first aiders are present on site, and emergency contingency plans are in place to address fires and other larger-scale events. Security measures, including surveillance and monitoring, support safe and controlled operations.

Looking ahead

We will continue to strengthen safety culture, risk management, and contractor oversight across our portfolio in order to ensure that renewable energy is developed in a way that always respects people and protects wellbeing.

Contact

At BeGreen, we believe a strong safety culture is built through shared responsibility and continuous learning. If you’d like to learn more about our health and safety approach or how we work with contractors and partners, we’d be happy to connect.
